Flood Risk Prediction & Mapping
App Summary:
This project is an interactive web app I built to help predict and map flood-prone areas in villages, using real environmental data like elevation, rainfall, soil, vegetation, and proximity to rivers.
Why I Built It:
Floods are among the most common and destructive natural disasters, especially in rural areas. I wanted to create a simple tool that can help local authorities, researchers, or even farmers understand which areas are at higher risk so they can plan better and stay safer.
What the App Does;
- Predicts whether a location is at high or low flood risk.
- Lets you upload your data or use a ready-made sample.
- Shows results on a live, interactive map.
- Gives you insights into model accuracy and performance.
- Lets you tweak the risk thresholds to suit your region.
How to Use It:
- Open the app (link below).
- Upload a CSV with village locations and environmental info, or just use the default sample data.
- The app will predict flood risk and show results on a map.
- You can adjust the flood risk cutoffs (e.g. for rainfall, slope, etc.) from the sidebar.
- View performance metrics or download the trained model for further use.
